FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Digital Product Passport (DPP)?

A Digital Product Passport is a digital record containing comprehensive information about a product's lifecycle, materials, sustainability metrics, and compliance status. Required under EU ESPR Regulation 2024/1781, DPPs enable consumers, recyclers, and authorities to access product data via QR codes.

Which products require a DPP?

Starting with batteries (Feb 2027), the requirement will expand to textiles, electronics, furniture, toys, detergents, and eventually most products sold in the EU. The European Commission is adopting delegated acts for each product category with specific requirements and timelines.

What happens if I miss the compliance deadline?

Non-compliance can result in penalties ranging from EUR 5,000 to EUR 100,000 per violation, depending on the member state and severity. Additionally, products without valid DPPs may be barred from the EU market entirely and subject to recalls.

What data must be included in a DPP?

Required data varies by product category but typically includes: product identification (GTIN, serial), manufacturer information, material composition, substances of concern, sustainability metrics (carbon footprint, energy efficiency), repairability information, recycling instructions, and compliance certificates.

How does the QR code system work?

Each product receives a unique QR code following GS1 Digital Link standards. When scanned, it directs to the product's Digital Product Passport page where all required information is displayed. The URL structure includes the GTIN and optional batch/serial numbers for traceability.

Can I integrate with my existing systems?

Yes. Our REST API allows integration with ERP, PLM, and other product data management systems. You can automate passport creation from existing data sources, reducing manual data entry and ensuring consistency across your product catalog.

What languages are supported?

We support all 24 official EU languages as required by ESPR. This includes Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Irish, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, and Swedish.
